Why Working at Home Is So Much Better than a J-O-B

I love working at home

There are several reasons why I feel securing a work-at-home business is so much better than a J-O-B.

With the responsibility of running my own business the successes are mine and the mistakes are mine. I am solely responsible for the outcome.

Instead of sitting behind a desk and being told what I have to achieve for the day or for the year, I set my own goals and objectives. No more time spent working on projects that I could care less about. And you know from previous posts that I’m all about setting goals.

When you’re a work-at-home business owner you set the goals, you choose the direction your business takes and which projects will be the best fit for your efforts. When achieving these goals you not only feel financially rewarded but personally rewarded as well. How many can say that about their J-O-B?

In addition to getting to decide the direction of your business you also cut down on the time it takes to get back and forth to the J-O-B. For me that was anywhere from 2 to 4 hours per day, really!  That daily commute represented time that could better be spent on other activities like exercising (which I now do each morning), working to build my company’s brand, and checking out resources for improving my business. For work-at-home business owners the longest commute is from the shower to the computer and work-at-home business attire is often jeans and a t-shirt.

Plus the work-at-home life offers you flexibility. When you run your own business, you don’t have to worry about being put on a mandated schedule. If you don’t feel well, you don’t have to go in to the office or get docked in pay. You have the flexibility to work around appointments like taking the kids to school or the dog for his vet checkups. Bottom line when you work at home you don’t have to work hours that someone else specifies.

Your schedule is completely your own. If you’d rather work in the wee hours of the night so you can spend more time with your loved ones while they’re awake, or because you’re having trouble sleeping, you can. When you work at home, the hours, the commitment, and the rewards are yours. And for me that means never being laid off again.

Running your own work-at-home business allows you the freedom to change directions, work your own hours, and avoid the frustrating commute and build something exciting.

  1. Hi Marilyn
Jeans and a T Shirt? How about PJ’s 🙂 I’ve been working for myself so long, I probably wouldn’t last a day back in the corporate world.
