Fab Friday Blog Share

fab friday blog shareHere it is, Fab Friday Blog Share time once again and I think you’re going to enjoy this week’s great finds. Personally number five on the list was a goldmine for me.

I’ve had a very productive week getting back in the swing of posting to this blog, my other blog, writing content for my upcoming PLR site, and rebuilding my Halloween site that decided to disappear. A ton of work (actually longer than just last week) but it’s ready to roll.

And surprise, surprise, I received my final payout from Squidoo. As many have voiced, their departure timing is rather rude considering that the next few months stand to be good revenue months. But that’s the risk you take with 2.0 sites.

Today’s Fab Friday Blog Share

happy Friday

Today’s Fab Friday Blog Share falls on August 8th a memorable date for some. For in 1963 the Great Train Robbery took place in Buckinghamshire, England whereby a group of masked bandits stole an estimated $7 million dollars (2.6 million pounds) in the raid. Although eventually captured, much of the money was never recovered which makes me wonder how many trees were dug up in hopes of finding the stashed loot.

Interestingly, on this date in 1960, the song “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” hits the charts at #1, in 1963 the group the Kingsmen release “Louie, Louie”, where upon radio stations label it obscene. I imagine they would be quite shocked hearing the lyrics in some of today’s music.

How to Get Blog Visitors To Stay

Funny-BabyIn this week’s Fab Friday Blog Share I want to remind you about a couple of ways on how to get visitors to stay on your blog longer. We know that when visitors find something of interest on your blog they are more apt to read an entire post. I mean entirely, all the way to the end! They may skim parts but they stay for at least a minute or two.

When they do, they may be inclined to share it (I suggest you share this post), or they may choose to read a few more articles. Again this keeps them on your site longer which is great for connecting with them and for search engine ranking.

So how do you increase the odds that your visitors will stay on your site longer? [Read more…]

Fab Friday July 4th Facts and Fun

Fab Friday Fourth of July Facts and FunThis Friday, July 4th is Independence Day here in the United States. It’s a day of picnics, pot lucks, watermelon, water balloons, hot dogs, corn on the cob, barbecue, and beer. It’s a day of parades, parties, family outings, and fireworks celebrations.

Most importantly it is a day to proudly display our nation’s flag to commemorate our independence as a new nation – a nation of free people able to speak our minds, voice our opinions, and give thanks for rights we occasionally take for granted.

Let’s take a look at some of the more interesting facts about Independence Day and July 4th

1. The 4th of July was not declared a national holiday until 1941

2. Presidents John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe all died on the 4th

3. President Calvin Coolidge was born on July 4, 1872

4. Only John Hancock actually signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. All the others signed later

5. July 2nd should be Independence Day as that is the day Congress ruled in favor of independence, but it was two days later that the Declaration of Independence was approved. (Hmm, my birthday could have been a day for all to celebrate)

6. More than 74 million Americans are planning a BBQ for the 4th

7. Approximately 150 million hot dogs are consumed on this day

8. Approximately 68.3 million cases of beer are sold for the 4th of July, which makes it the biggest holiday for beer sales

9. The US imports about $3.6 million of American flags each year, most of them from China

10. 11 places in the U.S. have the word “Independence” in their name

Celebratory Fab Friday Blog Share

birthday-candlesHappy Friday one and all! Here we are at the last Friday in June, I don’t know about you but this month seemed to zip by ever so quickly. Next Friday is July 4th and Independence Day here in the United States. Chances are next week’s Fab Friday Blog Share will have a mention or two about the significance of that day. You won’t want to miss it.

Just two days before that memorable holiday is a day of personal significance for yours truly, as it appears I will become a year older. I doubt I’ll feel much different than the day before but with any luck I may receive a gift or two and share a delightful dinner out with my wonderful hubby.

With that event in mind, I thought I’d share a few greeting card verses that I’d be inclined to send to someone celebrating as many birthdays as I have. [Read more…]

Around the Web Fab Friday

fab friday blog share
You may recall that in the last Fab Friday Blog Share issue I mentioned that I would be posting with “three things I completed today” as part of a Facebook article writing challenge. Today and the next few Fab Fridays I’ll make it more of “three things I completed this week” as I think it may be more interesting for you, my reader.

So let’s see – [Read more…]

Fab Friday Blog Share and Three Things I Completed Today

Fab FridayThis edition of the Fab Friday Blog Share and most likely the next three will include a topic called “Three Things I Completed Today”. You see this month I’m participating in an article writing challenge with a fantastic Facebook group I’m in and that is the topic for our Friday blog content.

Sure I could change things up a bit and use that topic on another day but why try swimming upstream? I’ll just add it into my blog post routine because I’m adaptable and well, I’m not a swimmer.

So let’s see – Three Things I Completed Today

Now since it’s somewhat early in the day there’s not too much that I’ve completed but I’ll give it a shot. [Read more…]

Want to be a Guru?

Happy Friday BabyHello and happy Friday to you. In going through my email this morning I received an intriguing correspondence from Host Gator, maybe you did too. Their lead in stated simply “ Can Be Your New Web Address”.

How about that -no hard work – no real effort at all – simply the cost of a new domain name – and I can become a guru

Somehow I don’t have much faith that you would believe I was a great and powerful guru simply by grabbing a new domain name. It’s something like a little girl dressing up like a princess so that she can imaginarily believe that she is. We as parents know that she’s our little princess but I’m pretty sure no country will honestly claim her as their royal princess. [Read more…]
