Evernote, Do You Use It?

evernote I’m sure you have heard of Evernote as it seems to be all the rage.

I downloaded it some time ago used it a bit and then just forgot about until I joined the Tiffany Dow Challenge and became serious about blogging.

I’m an avid note taker and task list maker. I take notes when listening to training videos or webcasts, and I make lists for just about everything but especially for all the things I need to get done. My lists are like a memory tool so I don’t forget and they’re also like a slap in the face to get me back on track.

Since my business causes me to spend countless hours online I found myself bookmarking more sites then I knew I would ever return to. So as I was cleaning these bookmarks up one day and I saw the desktop icon for Evernote and asked myself why wasn’t I using that?

So I did and I love it. Let me give you 5 reasons why.

  1. When I find ideas to blog about I write a note and reference the article or website that helped give me the idea so that I can reflect on it again when I go to use it for a blog post.
  2. I may highlight a line or paragraph from a site that I want to rephrase or use as inspiration to get my thoughts on paper or in Word as the case may be.
  3. I add website links of places I find for additional training. I actually do this a lot because I am constantly finding new things to learn. When I do not understand how to do something I’ll do a Google search to see if there are tutorials or YouTube videos. When I find a site I may want to revisit I save it to Evernote.
  4. Have you ever saved something from the web and forgotten where you put it? I have and now that I save it to Evernote that is the first place I look.
  5. I keep a list of passwords in Evernote, not the security type but those for membership sites I belong to, affiliate programs, and social media. I also use Notepad for this and save it to a folder on my hard drive as a back-up.

This is only the tip of the iceberg with Evernote as I really haven’t spent the time to delve in further. I can really see it as the perfect companion for someone on the go wanting to keep track of all their business and home notes, photos, and maybe even for building the grocery list.

Do you use Evernote? Let us know why in the comments below.
