Around the Web Fab Friday

fab friday blog share
You may recall that in the last Fab Friday Blog Share issue I mentioned that I would be posting with “three things I completed today” as part of a Facebook article writing challenge. Today and the next few Fab Fridays I’ll make it more of “three things I completed this week” as I think it may be more interesting for you, my reader.

So let’s see –

Three Things I Completed This Week

Enjoyed an Evening Out

We are season subscribers to the Seattle 5th Avenue Theater which is a first rate nationally acclaimed musical theater. The 5th has originated and produced such Broadway hits as Hairspray and Memphis and runs locally produced and national tour productions of musicals like Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, A Christmas Story, Oklahoma, and Saving Aimee. Last evening we enjoyed the performance of Gershwin’s Tony award winning musical “Porky and Bess”. It was a great show as expected.

Tweaked My Halloween Site

Thanks to a post by Victoria Virgo about how she’s updating products on her Halloween website I decided I should do a bit of adjusting to mine. I went in and updated all the plugins and such and verified links because the site is garnering moderate traffic and who knows maybe someone will buy months before Halloween.

I intend to give the site a fair makeover in the next few months but you can check it out here if you like – Simply Spooktacular. The nice thing too is that items I shared on Pinterest last year are still being repined.

Bought Easy Sketch Pro

I read about Easy Sketch Pro on Bonnie Gean’s blog and at first I was not impressed. Seems I must have had a rough day or maybe I had hit overload by all the video products being promoted in the last few weeks. Well I decided to take another look and I am so pleased that I did. I absolutely LOVE it!

What I like is that the learning curve is going to be short as the program is pretty intuitive and they have a well laid out user manual. My very first video is below, it’s short and sweet but I see many more shaping up in the future. Just click the play button.

Thanks Bonnie’s for your ever-helpful assistance since I hadn’t found the user manual yet.

  1. Interesting links again Marilyn, and I’m amazed you could do that video so fast. That product really raises the bar again for video. I used to be fascinated by every hand drawn video because they were so novel, but if marketers start using them all over the place, they may get over-used and then no doubt they will come up with something else novel. Just now I think they will still work well though.

    • Hi Ana,
I’m really liking Easy Sketch Pro and look forward to making many videos. The market can indeed become over saturated with sketch videos but I believe they’ll stand the test of time.

  2. Fab reads again Marilyn! Love your sketch video too – it’s a nifty little programme 🙂

  3. I’m not surprised that the words one should use in the article “11 Buzzwords to Use in Your Blog Posts for Social Sharing” are the same as the words one would use in a sales letter. 🙂

Use them because they work, but don’t get boxed in. Many people get used to seeing these words too, so throw some personality (and humor) into the mix to spice things up too!

    LOVE your sketch, Marilyn! 🙂

    • Exactly what I though Bonnie. The list of words looked like they came from sales letters but if used in the right context they can make grand headlines.
Like you say don’t mix too many into your content, write with your own personality first and foremost. Otherwise you will simply come across as insincere.

Glad you liked the sketch too!

  4. Aaah – thanks for the props Marilyn – good luck with your Halloween site this year.

Great little video too – I want to buy this product sooner rather than later. Looks fun 🙂
